THE TIME GARDEN REVIEWS POIESIS #1

In celebration of poet David S. Pointer, The Time Garden reviewed and promoted several of his works and releases. Editor Klyd Watkins gave a nice shout-out [scroll down the page on his blog] about David's upcoming Pocket Protector, Ice Age, available this first week of October 2008, as well as a positive review of the first issue of Poiesis, currently available from Propaganda Press. Thanks, Klyd, for the shout-out, and if everyone could please take a few moments to check out The Time Garden, it would sure make your day.

David has a poem in a little hard copy zine called poiesis and your time gardener was sent a review copy of the issue, number one, a little hand full of the excitement of reaching for poetry, even smaller than Time Barn’s little books or their classic inspirations from City Lights. Developing voices are right beside the mature artistry of Catfish McDaris, Ed Galing, Jack Hirschman/Ferruccio Brugnaro and, yes, David Pointer, whose “New World Work” rolls along with typical pertinence, power[,] and syntactical virtuosity. There are others whose work impresses individually of course, the editor’s for example. I have kept poiesis number one handy and have dipped into it a number of times. I almost wish I had a dentist appointment or some such, for it is just the kind of stick in your pocket read you want to carry into the world.
